What does Clarity Forensics do?
Clarity is an Android app, listed on Google Play as Clarity Red Flag Detector. You export a conversation from a messaging app and import it, and Clarity highlights where patterns like gaslighting, love bombing, DARVO, stonewalling and guilt tripping show up. Every flag links to the messages behind it, and a health score and timeline show how the conversation changed over time.
Can an app really detect gaslighting in text messages?
It can point to language that often goes with gaslighting, such as denying things that clearly happened, questioning your memory, or calling you too sensitive, and show how often and when it happens. It can't know intent or context the way a person can, so treat the results as a starting point for reflection or for a conversation with a counselor, not as a verdict.
Which messaging apps can I import from?
WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Signal, Discord, Snapchat, Line, Viber, WeChat, SMS backups, and CSV or plain-text exports. On Android you can also send a WhatsApp chat straight to Clarity from WhatsApp's Export chat option.
Is my conversation private?
Pattern detection runs on your phone. Imported conversations are saved to your private account so they survive a reinstall, or you can use Volatile Mode to keep a conversation in memory only. If you run an AI report, Clarity sends pattern statistics, the other person's name and up to 20 short excerpts (200 characters max each) to Google Gemini, never your full conversation. You can delete any conversation, or all of your data, at any time. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Is Clarity a diagnosis?
No. Clarity looks for patterns in language. It does not diagnose anyone, and its personality estimates are for reflection, not clinical assessment. If you feel unsafe, contact local emergency services. In the US you can reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or by texting START to 88788.
Will the other person know I analyzed our chat?
No. Clarity only works with files you export yourself. It doesn't connect to anyone else's account or send them anything, and its notifications use neutral wording that doesn't say what the app is about. You can also turn on a fingerprint or PIN lock.
Is Clarity free?
Yes, Clarity is free to download and includes 1 conversation import and 3 AI reports. Pro costs $12.99 a month and adds unlimited imports and AI reports, PDF export and more. Lifetime is a one-time $99.99.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Clarity is available for Android on Google Play.
